Directive (EU) 2016/585 provides for an exemption from article 4(1) restrictions for lead, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) in spare parts recovered from and used for the repair or refurbishment of medical devices or electron microscopes. Article 4(1) restrictions.
Article 4(1) states that spare parts recovered from and used for the repair or refurbishment of medical devices or electron microscopes must not contain more that 0.1% the following substances:

Lead
-
Mercury
-
Cadminm
-
Haxavalent chromium
-
Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE)
-
Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB)
Member states have until the 28 February 2017 to adopt legislation to implement this Directive. They shall apply those provisions from 6 November 2017.
