The Greenhouse Gas Emissions Trading Scheme (Nitrous Oxide) Regulations 2011 enable the UK to include nitrous oxide emissions from the production of nitric acid in the EU emissions trading scheme. The European Commission granted the UK permission to do this on 6 June 2011.
