The Infrastructure Planning (Environmental Impact Assessment) (Amendment) Regulations 2011 amend the 2009 Regulations, and require the secretary of state to review the latter every five years to see whether they should remain, be revoked or amended.

The 2011 Regulations also change the 2009 Regulations to include recent amendments to the EU Directive on the assessment of the effects of certain public and private projects on the environment (85/337/EEC as amended by 2009/31/EC).
