New guidance on water and packaging

Defra has published new environmental permitting guidance for both water discharge and groundwater activities.

The new guidance follows the introduction of the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2010, which came into force on 6 April 2010 and replaced parts of the Water Resources Act 1991 and the Groundwater Regulations 2009.

At the same time, the Environment Agency has issued a new factsheet explaining the changes in the Producer Responsibility Obligations (Packaging Waste) (Amendment) Regulations 2010, which came into force on 26 November 2010.
