One Welsh watchdog in 2013
A single environment body replacing the Environment Agency Wales, the Countryside Council for Wales and Forestry Commission Wales, could be operational as early as April 2013
Following a consultation last year, which proposed that a single body should take responsibility for delivering the to the Welsh Assembly government's natural environment framework, the government has revealed that combining the three existing bodies could deliver more than £100 million of savings.
A recent Welsh assembly progress report reveals that a detailed business case for the single body will be sent to ministers in November, with a policy consultation expected to follow in early 2012.
