Ensuring green skills are on the international agenda

IEMA is in a unique position to help leverage our members, corporate organisations and education partners to help drive the growth of green skills across our economy. We need to ensure that future generations have the passion, knowledge and drive to make meaningful change, and encourage this across their organisations and networks.

Raising awareness of green skills is a key focus of our work; these skills will play a vital role in tackling climate change and our biodiversity crisis. Ahead of COP28, we asked members and organisations to sign an open letter that we sent to the Minister for Energy Security and Net Zero (a key member of the UK’s negotiating team) urging the prioritisation of green jobs and skills at the conference.

A blueprint for organisational change

The IEMA and Deloitte report paints a picture of an accelerating drive to build this greener workforce across the UK economy. In preparing it, we developed a succinct set of insights intended to help organisations design their strategic green workforce transformation.

The report highlights four key shifts in the market around green skills and jobs, as well as how this impacts core business functions. The toolkit provides organisations with practical ideas and tools to understand options within their organisational context, across different functions and levels.
