The way we are governed is extremely important to ensure that IEMA uses resources effectively to maximise impact.
We are a not-for-profit organisation, which means all the money we make is invested into IEMA’s core activity with the objective of increasing value to our members and partners. The IEMA Board of Directors and its sub-committees ensure that IEMA meets its statutory and legal obligations and its commitment to IEMA members. They report to IEMA members at an Annual General Meeting where members can hold IEMA to account against its commitments.
Our external relationships, mission and objectives are governed by our Memorandum of Association; whilst our internal operations are governed by our Articles of Association.
The Board of Directors provide entrepreneurial leadership of IEMA within a framework of prudent and effective controls, which enables risk to be assessed and managed. The Board delegate powers to various committees which are advisory in nature and operate under specific terms of reference.
