IEMA is pleased to publish its response to the Department of Energy Security and Net Zero’s consultation on their draft supplementary guidance for assessing the effects of scope 3 emissions on climate from offshore oil and gas projects. IEMA responded to the consultation on the mechanics of the proposed Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), making three recommendations on the need to introduce the CBAM as soon as possible, to improve the accuracy of data being submitted and the harmonisation of the scheme with other CBAMs.
IEMA responded to the consultation on the Future Homes Standard proposals, and recommended that Option 1 is taken forward, and noted that embodied carbon should have been included in the consultation. The response also expressed disappointment that more ambitious proposals were not put forward in the consultation, given that alternatives exist which are financially viable and better for the environment.
Prior to the political party conference season in 2023, IEMA published a series of key asks for policymakers. Following the
announcement of the general election, these asks were updated to reflect changes in the policy landscape and the evolving insights of our members.
