There was a resounding "yes" vote to the polling question, "Would you like to be a Chartered Environmentalist?" which appeared on the home page of IEMAdotnet over the last few weeks. 666 votes were cast of which 87% were in favour, 4% were against, and 9% felt they needed more information.
The Society for the Environment was launched in October 2002, the IEMA is one of the ten founding bodies. The Society's next major milestone is the submission of a petition to the Privy Council for incorporation by Royal Charter and a new qualification, Chartered Environmentalist (C.Env).
Preliminary discussions have already taken place with the Privy Council and the Society is aiming to complete the application process by the end of 2003. For an explanation of the Society's plans go to [download_blank:socenv.pdf] Size:60.46kbytes.
