The site introduces the issues relating to sustainable food, provides links to a number of relevant documents, and highlights seven principles of sustainable food, including: using local seasonally available ingredients, specifying food from farming systems that minimise harm to the environment, limiting foods of animal origin, excluding fish species identified as ‘most at risk’ by the Marine Conservation Society and only choosing fish from sustainable sources, choosing Fairtrade-certified products, avoiding bottled water, and promoting health and well- being.
With new evidence emerging all the time, this site is recognised as a work in progress.
