Georgios Ath. Souflias, Greek Minister for the Environment, Planning and Public Works, Mr. Dimitris Daskalopoulos, President of the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV), and Efthimios Vidalis, CEO of S&B Minerals and the first President of the Greek BCSD, gave keynote speeches. In addition, WBCSD President Björn Stigson, EU Commissioner for the Environment Stavros Dimas, and Greenpeace Greece Executive Director Nikos Charalambidis gave video addresses.
Hosted by SEV, the Greek BCSD's 31 founding members have all signed a Code for Sustainable Development: a 10-point declaration on continuous improvement in economic, environmental and social performance. The first major event of the Greek BCSD will be a conference on “Climate Change and Sustainable Development”, with Sir Nicholas Stern as keynote speaker, scheduled for 26 November. Björn Stigson warmly welcomes the Greek BCSD as a new member of the WBCSD's Regional Network.
