This committee – the Policy and Practice Committee (PPC) – will provide strategic oversight of the development and delivery of the policy and practice outputs that the Institute produces. It will act as a conduit between the main IEMA Board and any member steering groups engaged in policy and practice activities.
In performing this role, the PPC will set the thematic direction of relevant member steering groups, which in turn will ensure that the delivery of their work is joined-up. The PPC will also provide a reporting mechanism to the main IEMA Board on behalf of relevant policy and practice steering groups to ensure that the delivery and overall impact of outputs is properly considered by the Institute.
Establishing the PPC
Initially there will be a maximum of 10 member positions on the PPC. One of these will be occupied by the Chair (an IEMA Board member) and a further four by representatives from IEMA’s existing policy and practice groups. To fill the other five positions IEMA is running an expression of interest exercise until Friday, 19th November.
To express your interest in joining the group please respond in no more than 500 words to [email protected] with answers to the following questions:
- What role do you believe an IEMA Policy and Practice Committee should play?
- What experience of delivering policy and practice outputs do you have?
- What other relevant skills and knowledge do you have?
The final policy and practice governance review as agreed by the IEMA Board can be found here.
Diversity in establishing the PPC
The aim is to establish a diverse membership for the PPC, both demographically and in terms of technical and soft skills. In selecting PPC members the IEMA Board will pay particular attention to ensuring that it has a diverse make-up.
