In response to the announcement that the effective ban on onshore wind is due to be lifted by the Prime Minister, Sarah Mukherjee MBE, CEO at IEMA, said:
“This is good news for the UK’s transition to a net zero economy.
“Onshore wind is popular and cheap, and expanding development will improve our long-term energy security.
“Along with the independent review of the government’s net zero strategy by former energy minister Chris Skidmore MP, IEMA has been calling for an expanded onshore wind sector.
“It is critical that government works with businesses and educators to ensure we have a workforce with the green skills needed to expand our onshore wind capacity.”
