Global healthcare technology business - Medtronic - has signed a new partnership with IEMA as part of their efforts to minimise their environmental footprint via green upskilling their organisation.
With a global team of 95,000+ people working in over 150 countries, Medtronic’s mission is to alleviate pain, restore health, and extend life by searching out and finding solutions to the most challenging health problems facing humanity.
As part of their efforts to use sustainable business practices to minimise their environmental footprint, Medtronic said they are always searching for bold ways to reduce their operational carbon footprint, cut their waste and water usage, and build sustainability into our products.
Medtronic recently achieved ISO 26000 Social Responsibility verification, which assesses an organisation’s commitment to sustainability by translating principles into effective actions and sharing global best practice.
Kristian Howells, Group Commercial Director Medtronic UK & Ireland, said: “Environmental harm and social value are intrinsically linked to health. Every day we are seeing the effects of both on peoples’ ability to live a healthy life. Tackling decarbonisation needs a collaborative approach and working with IEMA allows us to access a wider network and upskill our organisation.”
Medtronic joins a network of around 350 corporate partners that are working with IEMA to accelerate skills and standards in sustainability.
In convening organisations from across a range of sectors, IEMA are also building networks of businesses within and across industries who can learn from each other. By harnessing green skills, IEMA is helping organisations like Medtronic to protect the planet by challenging unsustainable strategies of the past, implementing the highest standards in sustainable practice in the present, and accelerating businesses to net zero in the future.
Martin Baxter, IEMA Deputy CEO, said: “We are excited to welcome Medtronic as a Corporate Partner of IEMA and look forward to supporting them on their sustainability journey. By extending our reach beyond individual members and working with a wide range of businesses from across sector we can demonstrate the power of convening and collaboration to transform the world to sustainability.”
