About Richard

I have worked as a HS&E Manager in the Plastics & Food Industry for more than 27 years working with regional responsibilities in the Nordic Countries & South Africa before starting my own HS&E consultancy company in 2017. My Clients vary from Water Treatment Companies. Automotive Manufacturing and SMEs. My main work is implementing ISO14001:2015 & ISO45001:2018 Management Systems as well providing Fire Risk Assessment Support for a large Fire Protection Company. I am also the Chair of IOSH North Wales, which provides the opportunity to bring both IOSH and IEMA together in collaboration.

About Stu

Stu Meades is Director of Greener Edge Ltd, an independent energy and sustainability consultancy based in North Wales. Stu has a background in both the commercial and public sectors as well as international development programs. He is a Chartered Environmentalist and Full Member of IEMA, a Ceritified Energy Manager and has an MBA in Environmental Management. Stu specialises in developing and implementing strategies to deliver organisational decarbonisation and environmental enhancement projects.

About Steve

I’ve been involved in the Environmental Management Industry around North Wales for the past 20 years, mainly managing Environmental Permits, Environmental Management Systems and Waste Issues. I also have a passion for local environment and ecology and all aspects of conservation. I’m currently Site Health, Safety and Environmental Site Manager for Horizon Nuclear Powers Wylfa Newydd Site on Anglesey. I became a Full / Chartered Environmentalist, via IEMA in 2017, and I’m an original member of the North Wales Regional Steering Group.

About Heli

I’m based at the School of Natural Sciences at Bangor University where I lecture on a Strategic Environmental Management module (certified by IEMA), a Green Technologies module and several conservation modules. I’ve worked at the university since 2009 and was involved in setting up an MSc in Environmental and Business Management and an MBA in Environmental Management as part of a sustainable business project. My main research area is natural environment, health and well-being and I'm also a trained Mindfulness Teacher and run mindfulness courses and nature-based activities. I’ve been an IEMA Practitioner Member since 2012.

About Dan

Hi, I am a Principal Environmental Consultant working for Atkins with over 14 years’ experience in environmental and planning roles in the UK and Middle East. I have been a project manager and EIA coordinator for large scale international and nationally significant infrastructure projects and I have worked in a wide range of sectors including energy, industrial, waste, water, highways, rail and development. More recently, I have worked on development projects in stakeholder liaison, and environmental management roles, ensuring that the projects' understand and meet all of the relevant stakeholders' environmental requirements. One of my favourite roles of the job is mentoring colleagues and I am always happy to chat about ways and opportunities to improve the environmental outcomes of projects.

About Rhian

Rhian has worked in Civil Service, Local Government and private practice in a range of Sustainable Development and Environmental Management roles for over 22 years. For 7 years she undertook the role of Energy Conservation and latterly Carbon Management Officer at Conwy County Borough Council in North Wales. This role entailed reducing carbon emissions to meet government targets and lowering utility costs across the local authority estate and within departmental activity. Rhian is experienced in working with a range of community groups and schools which enabled her successfully transition her skills and experience to the delivery of the Healthy Homes Healthy People Project across North Wales with Warm Wales CIC. Rhian has previously worked as a Community Support Worker assisting households with accessing affordable warmth and tackling health and wellbeing. Rhian currently works as a Sustainability Manager for a Government Department with a focus on Infrastructure projects across the UK and overseas.

About Derek

I am an Environmental Advisor working in the civil engineering/construction sector. My primary function is to provide organisational assurance through Environmental site audits. Ensuring not only legislative compliance but driving Environmental and Sustainability best practice, not only in the Environment Agencies construction supply chain but the wider construction industry through innovation and collaboration. I chair an Environmental managers forum bringing together supply chain partners and internal stakeholders, with the aim of sharing best practice, learning from incidents, keeping updated on legislative changes and innovation. I am involved in periodic reviews of our construction standards, having recently introduced new standards for our construction partners and design consultants on topics such as environmental awareness training, management of invasive non-native species and biosecurity. Outside of work I enjoy spending time outdoors walking, cycling and camping, but by far my favourite activity is just being in the natural environment with my son.

Alex has worked in the field of environmental management and assessment since 2000. As the Principal Environmental Officer for YGC Consultancy, Alex plays an important role upholding the ethos of ISO 14001 through the Organisations Environmental Management System. Alex's responsibilities also include the co-management of a team of 9 staff including ecologists, specialist technicians and management of specialist sub-contractors such as archaeologists and landscape architects.

About Matthew

My name is Matthew Thomas and I have fifteen years of experience in environmental risk management. I started my career working with the Royal Air Force Land Quality Assessment Team (RAF INFRA 4 LQAT) which involved assessment of land quality across the Royal Air Force estate. I then moved on to work with a multinational engineering consultancy undertaking contaminated land assessment and remediation at fuel storage and distribution sites across the UK. I currently work for a specialist environmental consultancy delivering environmental risk management services to the hazardous goods transport industry. My role involves assisting clients with the management of their environmental risks, including the management of environmental incidents and spillages of dangerous goods, which occur during road transport operations.
