Take a Step–by–Step Journey Through the Associate Exam

Different people like to learn in different ways which is why we offer two routes to achieving Associate membership.

If you already have the appropriate environment and sustainability knowledge, then the direct study route allows you to register for the Associate exam.
If, however, you prefer a course that is delivered either in a classroom or through e-learning, there is an approach to learning that works for you via an IEMA approved training partner. Once you have completed the course, you will be registered for the Associate exam.

The Associate exam is an online, 1-hour multiple-choice exam, linked to the IEMA Associate Membership Standard. A link to access the exam will be provided to you by IEMA and you can access the exam at a time and place that is convenient to you.

The pass mark is 70%, once passed, you will receive your membership e-certificate within 6 weeks after the month in which you passed your exam.

If you fail the exam, you will have one re-sit free of charge. Any further resits after that incur a charge, per attempt.
